Meet your ass-kicking, holla-backing, sass-sharing team of site leaders! We’re always looking for more people to join the revolution – check out our volunteer page for more information!
Becca Lee, Site Director/Communications Coordinator, is a communications professional by day, a professor by night, and director of Hollaback! Des Moines on the side. Though she usually deals in words, her signature HOLLA looks something like this.
Alysa Mozak, Events Coordinator, has spent seven years in her professional career as a victim advocate and rape prevention educator and has done extensive work developing and facilitating curricula and programming for young women [and men] on gender and anti-violence issues. Her passion lies in teaching but she also enjoys the art of activism and goes by the motto of “The Personal is Political” in everything she does to better victim services. Although those who know her well say she never stops being an advocate for women’s issues, she does enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading, singing along to women’s indie rock bands, shoe shopping and biking.
Jessica Staskal, Design Coordinator, is the resident Crazy Cat Lady. She recently graduated from Drake with her BA in Public Relations, minors in Anthropology and Women’s Studies, and she now works at the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault doing kick-ass communications stuff. She will be helping out Hollaback! DSM with design and social media, and supplying the team with infinite cat gifs. She’s an anglophile, a carb-o-holic, Netflix addict, Vagina Monologues enthusiast, Nerdfighter, and glutton for talking about anything feminist or political. Her usual Hollaback looks quite a bit like this.
Lauren Berry, Outreach Coordinator, is a graduate from George Mason University with a B.A in Government and a International Politics with a minor in African American Studies. She is excited to be involved in Hollaback because she believes it is important for people to feel like they have a voice and for others to be held accountable for their actions. Lauren works in student affairs and her life path has been to help others because she understands that she is where she is because of others who have helped and supported her. Lauren is a major book worm and normally when she is not working or living in the gym to do Zumba she is on couch reading and enjoying life in the book world.
